RESULTS INFORMATION

  1. General information

Title of Research project: "Research and forecast the training needs of the graduates from the Engineering and Technology majors in the context of the Fourth Industry Revolution”.

Code number: B2018-TĐC-01

Project manager: Dr. Hoang Cong Dung

The agency in charge: Training Support and Human Resource Development Centre, Ministry of Education and Training.

 Implementing duration: from October 2018 to October 2020.

  1. Objectives of the research

Evaluate the impact of the Fourth Industrial Revolution on human resource demands in Vietnam, especially the graduates from the Engineering and Technology majors;

Research on the theoretical basis of training needs (quantity, competency requiements, ...) of the graduates from the Engineering and Technology majors in the context of the Fourth Industry Revolution;

Forecast the training needs of the graduates from the Engineering and Technology majors in the context of the Fourth Industry Revolution

  1. Main results of the research

Understanding and analyzing forecast methods and forecast models from domestic and from some countries, and also evaluating the impacts of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (FIR) to determine the forecast method and forecast model of the training needs of the graduates from Engineering and Technology majorsin the context of FIR.

Understanding the current situation of training students of Engineering and Technology majors shows that the students of the Engineering and Technology majors are sectors that account for a large number with many opportunities to participate in the labor market quickly. However, the level of meeting the job requirements of graduates is still limited, there are graduates who do not follow the training disciplines. The coordination between universities and organizations, enterprises, and employers from the Engineering and Technology majors in the process of training, recruiting and employment has initially had good results. However, this coordination is still local, exiguous and has not systematic. This is one of the limitations that significantly affects the output capacities of the training process.

        On the basis of theoretical and practical research, based on the review and identification of forecasting models and forecasting methods, the Research Team came up with forecasting indicators of the training needs of the Engineering - Technology sectors. This results should be a part of the factors to identify trends in the quantity and quality of training of the universities, to meet the needs of the labor market of economic sectors that employ graduates of Engineering - Technology sectorsto 2025, vision 2030.

Base on the research results, the research team has proposed a number of activities and solutions for the Ministry of Education and Training, higher education institutions, students of the Engineering - Technology majors, and organizations, enterprises, and employers, contributing to ensuring the quantity, improving the quality of the gradutes from the Engineering and Technology majors, improving the ability to find jobs, and matching majors and degree with the job requirements.
